Inshorts turns every news story into 60 words — but the business behind that simplicity runs on advertising, and I was the founding engineer who built that layer from scratch, on an app with roughly 80 million users.

How It Came Together
Inshorts' entire product promise is speed and brevity, which meant the ad layer had to generate revenue without breaking the experience that made the app work in the first place. As founding engineer on that layer, I built the ad infrastructure from the ground up — the part of the product that actually paid for everything else.



Alongside that, I led the migration of core app codebase from Objective-C to Swift, modernising the technical foundation the ad layer and the rest of the product were built on. Between the new ad infrastructure and the platform migration, the work contributed to 25% DAU growth over the period.
